NeonPath Generator
add-on
Create editable neon signs in Blender with custom TTF/OTF fonts, multilingual outline text, SVG import and image tracing. Customize tubes, colors, holders and backplates.
Create editable neon signs in Blender
NeonPath Generator turns text, SVG paths, image silhouettes and curves into customizable neon signs with tubes, holders and backplates.
Create lettering for interiors, storefront concepts, game environments, title graphics and product scenes — while keeping your design editable.
Your fonts. More languages.
Load your own TTF or OTF fonts, preview them before applying, and save favorites in your scene.
Built-in Tube Neon supports uppercase Latin and Cyrillic, numbers and punctuation. Outline Neon preserves case and supports additional languages through compatible fonts.
Character coverage and text shaping depend on the selected font and Blender’s text support. Fonts are not bundled or automatically packed into your project.
Four ways to create
Text: use built-in tube lettering or outlines from your own fonts.
SVG: import supported vector paths and basic shapes.
PNG / JPEG: trace high-contrast silhouette boundaries into editable curves.
Curves: generate neon from existing planar POLY or BEZIER curves.
Customize the complete sign
Adjust tube diameter, lettering size, spacing and alignment. Use a single neon color or up to six color groups.
Add solid or clear acrylic backplates. Choose rounded rectangular or convex outline shapes, then configure holders, spacing and tube clearance.
Use Rounded Rectangle for a symmetric rectangular backplate with adjustable padding and corner radius.
High geometry quality by default
New signs use Close-up geometry quality, with 24 sides around the tubes and the highest built-in path sampling.
Standard and Draft modes remain available for lighter editing. Geometry quality controls the generated mesh; it does not change global render samples or image resolution.
Keep your design editable
Update signs after changing their source curves.
Preview custom fonts before applying them.
Store recent and favorite fonts in your scene.
Save and reuse appearance presets.
Duplicate signs and place them against mesh surfaces.
Bake ordinary mesh copies while retaining editable originals.
Auto Update applies valid parameter changes immediately. Turn it off to stage geometry changes, then use Update Sign or Revert Pending.
Direct edits to source curves require selecting the sign and pressing Update Sign.
Glass and glow
Choose diffused emissive tubes or glass shells with separate glowing cores.
Cycles uses physical refraction. Eevee uses a transparency and reflection approximation.
Use Set Up Glow to add the managed compositor glow effect. This scene-wide effect can also affect other bright objects.
Compatibility
Requires Blender 5.2.2 or later.
Tested with Blender 5.2.2 on Windows 10. Other Blender versions and operating systems have not been verified.
The main interface supports English and Russian. Some technical messages remain English. Interface languages are separate from the multilingual lettering available through compatible fonts.
Workflow notes
Image tracing works best with simple, high-contrast artwork. It follows silhouette boundaries rather than stroke centerlines. Thick strokes can produce contours on both sides.
SVG import supports plain vector geometry. Convert text to paths and remove unsupported SVG features before importing.
Keep custom font files accessible when transferring projects or editing their text.
