Unreal LOD Maker
add-on
Generate and preview LOD chains in Blender. Set triangle budgets or ratios, tune screen-size thresholds and organize per-asset levels before sending them to Unreal Engine.
Build a decimated LOD chain, inspect the result and tune how each level should switch before export.
Key features- Preset-driven LOD generation with per-level ratios or triangle targets.
- Screen-size thresholds using Unreal-style bounds calculations.
- Distance and field-of-view previews for reviewing level changes.
- Floater-aware processing and per-asset bulk operations.
- LOD registry, removal tools and portable presets.
- Metadata designed to work with the separate Unreal Bridge; manually built chains can join the workflow.
Open N-panel → Unreal Tools → LOD Maker, choose the source asset and preset, generate levels and preview their transitions. Inspect the geometry before exporting.
Common questionsDoes it require Unreal Engine? No. LOD generation runs in Blender. Export and engine import are separate steps.
Which platforms? The source release targets Blender 3.3–5.2 on Windows, macOS and Linux, with extension installation for 4.2+. It runs offline without external geometry packages.
Is the bridge included? No. Unreal Bridge is optional and separate. Unreal Engine and its license are not included. This is an independent tool, not an Epic Games product or endorsement.
