Rainy Lake Cabins With Rainbow

Built entirely in Blender 5.2, this scene captures a pair of timber-framed cabins on a grassy bank above a rain-soaked mountain lake, with falling rain, spreading ripples across the water, and a rainbow arching through a heavy overcast sky. Warm light glows from the cabin windows against the cool grey atmosphere, with their reflections stretching across the rippled surface and snow-capped peaks rising on either side.

The cabins are modeled from scratch, a larger two-story timber-framed house paired with a smaller outbuilding, set among tall trees on a raised bank above the waterline.

What's going on under the hood:

The atmosphere is driven by custom node setups, handling the rain, the overcast cloud cover, and the rainbow, so the weather is part of the scene itself rather than a post-process overlay.
Grass, shrubs, and rocks along the bank were scattered using Biome Reader's density scatter, giving natural coverage and variation across the shoreline.
Rain ripples across the lake surface and wet, glistening foliage sell the mid-storm feel.
Warm interior glow from the windows contrasts against the cool, desaturated grey sky and lake, creating a clear focal point.
Still-water reflections extend the cabins and tree line without added geometry.
All compositing was done natively in Blender, with no external editing, balancing exposure, contrast, and a muted cool-toned color grade across the final image.
