This Geometry nodes setup enables you to upload models with gaps that are virtual.

This helps great in the design phase, since you can add/remove gaps between parts and still retain correct subdivision surface shape.

The curvature of subdivision surface modifier isn't influenced by this modifier

How to use:
You can create your own Edge Boolean Attribute. Set the edges of the attribute in Edit mode - Mesh -> Set Attribute
