Imagination has no end 🔗

An interview with Ghazal Ramezan (aka GH Blender) 🔗

Ghazal Ramezan is an amazing 3D freelance artist. Her main passion is interior design, but she is capable of modeling almost anything. Besides various models, she has also uploaded complex scenes. Ramezan is one of the few female creators active in the Blendkit (formerly BlenderKit) community. We hope that more women will be inspired to share their work after reading about her journey.

Hi Ghazal. Will you please tell us a bit about yourself?

I live in Malaysia. I am an architect. Over the last ten years, I have been working in the field of interior design and construction.

My interest in the field developed from an early age. When I was sixteen years old, I used to do manual perspective homework for my classmates. I felt that the more exercises I did, the more I learned. Later on, when I was a student, I did 3D software projects also for the other students. I was very enthusiastic about it. I would work till midnight without even noticing the time passing. Maybe I looked crazy, but I wasn’t. I just really loved to work.

Do you work as a freelancer or in a company?

After I received my bachelor’s degree and finished university, I was easily able to find a job in an engineering company and worked there for five years. I then decided that I want to work for myself. My manager tried to convince me to stay by offering an increase in my salary, but I was determined.

At the beginning, working as a freelancer was not easy. I found books very empowering. The book The Law of Success by Napoleon Hill helped me to believe in myself and in my ability to become one of the best in the field of interior design, software and rendering. My faith in God also had a role in my success.

How did you learn 3D modeling and how long did it take you to get to where you are today?

I learned AutoCAD at school. In University, I got acquainted with Max, Photoshop, Sketchup and Lumion. A friend introduced me to Blender. I was looking for a light and simple software and Blender is extremely powerful. I have been using it for modeling in the last two years.

It took me about two months to fully learn how to use Blender. The process was not long for me because I already had experience with other softwares. I participated in some training classes and watched YouTube tutorials. This is how I have learned to create realistic renderings.

At first, I only did single object renderings. One day I decided to put more objects together. I really enjoyed creating different combinations. I love rebuilding, designing and using my imagination. In fact, I would say that creating 3D scenes is not just a job for me, but also a hobby.

Inspirations and creative process 🔗

Where do you find inspiration for models?

My main source of inspiration is real-life objects. I find references on various websites such as Pinterest and Instagram. I also draw inspiration from looking at interior decorations in reality. For example, to understand the sizes of sunlight rays, I would check them in reality.

You have uploaded a variety of models to Blendkit. Everything from a leather chair to a spaceship. How do you choose what to model?

My main passion is interior design and objects related to architecture. I am attracted to beautiful things and enjoy it the most. I think that every artist should find their specialization and this is mine.

However, I am very interested in modeling new things and I am willing to explore everything to get closer to my passion. I even examine models of things I don’t like because it teaches me how to model things I do like.

Besides models, you have uploaded many scenes. What are some of the most important things for you when you create a new scene?

For me, the most important thing is to create beautiful eye-catching scenes. I want the render to look as real as a photo and for the viewer to enjoy it. I achieve a sense of harmony by imitating nature.

Especially when it comes to outdoor scenes, there is something filmic about your work. The scenes look like movie sets. Can you please tell us about that?

Human imagination has no end. Based on movies I see, ideas appear in my head. They then appear in my work.

I have created most of my exterior scenes in a software called Substance Painter. This also helps to accomplish certain cinematic effects.

What is your experience as a woman working in 3D?

I always try to do my best. Gender should never stop your progress. I believe that success should depend on how much effort you put into your work.

Do you have any suggestions for starting 3D artists?

If they are truly passionate, they can progress in every direction. In the field of gaming, coding, modeling and animation. I think that it is crucial to follow the path of your interests. Love is a driving force and it can take you anywhere. It’s hard to be desperate, but it’s even harder to be strong.

What are some of your dreams for the future?

One of my dreams is to become a top seller on Blendkit. I am happy to do the interview with you because it encourages me to put more energy into my modeling career. I thank the Blendkit team for this opportunity.
